Hi All
On Saturday 29th October Keith and I attended the annual Surrey
Cricket League Awards dinner on your behalf. There's no doubt that
we are best suited to take one for the team by eating a nice
chicken dinner.
We knew before hand that we had won the Division 1 Sportsmanship
award and Keith duly picked up a nice little glass trophy.
This year the league had a new award to commemorate former
chairman John Lloyds 30 plus years of service. Not surprisingly
John wasn't there having been kicked out as chairman after all
those years ! Apparently he choose sportsmanship as his theme
for his annual award.
I am pleased to report that Wimbledon Village had the overall
highest sportsmanship score in the whole league. So to our surprise
on the night, I picked up the inaugural John Lloyd Trophy Cup on
behalf of you all. Which I will bring along next year at some point
before it has to go back next year. Don't worry, even though we are
Village players we didn't drop either trophy !!
I think we all, including Dave and Ninja, contributed a little
to these awards but I think you'll all agree with me that it was
actually Ben, Bhu and particularly skipper Andy Downs who
contributed massively and who really deserved these awards.
Congratulations to you guys and of course who can forget Zac's
Purple Helmet. Andy, Bhu, Ben and any others at Tate I might have
missed, I salute you !!!
Regards
Mike Moran
